Decreasing stigma by mobilizing people living with and impacted by hepatitis C to tell their stories to elected and administrative officials.

Building a community by providing a space for people impacted by hepatitis C to learn how to play a role in the effort to eliminate hepatitis C in the United States by connecting with one another and using their voice and stories.

Significantly expanding the number of advocates in the hepatitis C field and identifying and mentoring new leaders.

Ryan Clary, Director

Ryan is a nonprofit consultant, with over 25 years of experience in HIV, viral hepatitis and health care advocacy. He is working with California leaders on the End the Epidemics: Californians Mobilizing to End HIV, HCV, and STDS project. He is also consulting with the American Liver Foundation, Pacific Coast Region, on San Diego County’s hepatitis C elimination strategy.

Ryan recently served as executive director of the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable, where he oversaw the organization’s public policy, communications, and education programs. Prior to his tenure at NVHR, Ryan worked at Project Inform for 17 years, advocating for increased access to health care and treatment for people with HIV and hepatitis C.

He is a founding member of the San Francisco Hepatitis C Task Force and has served on the Board of Directors of the Communities Advocating Emergency AIDS Relief (CAEAR) Coalition and the National Hepatitis B Task Force: Focus on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. In 2014, Ryan was named one of Hep Magazine’s top ten hepatitis advocates and in 2016 he was honored by the Economist Intelligence Unit as an HCV Change Maker.
